An interesting phenomenon

I'm noticing that when I cry, only my right eye tears up. Is this normal? Grettir, I need your wisdom on this one.

Today is Groundhog Day. We watched the movie, of course (how can you not watch the movie?). If I had to relive one day of my life over and over, today would not be the day. Also, this blog is not meant to alarm anyone. Please, no one worry. Just a couple of random observations.

Being a man, women's tears must always remain a mystery to me. However, being a man, I can offer a possible scientific explanation: an occluded nasolacrimal duct.

Nor my last week. But one of the things that "Groundhog Day" teaches us (and I'm sure you'll agree that it has much to teach us) is that even our worst days are made up of an almost infinite number of tiny miracles. We will fail to recognize most of them, ignore others, and fail to act on almost all the rest, but just being able to recognize their existence can make ours a little more tolerable.

You'll notice I didn't say that it always makes things "better." There will be an unfortunate number of days in your life that will be, at their very core, downright awful, and no amount of spin can make them any less so. Those days are not meant to be celebrated, they are meant to be survived. And if you do survive them, you can consider the day a success.

So if it was one of those days, here's to your survival! [Clink glasses.]

And I'm not worried about you. You seem to be the kind of girl who has no problem recognizing miracles when they happen.

Grettir, thank you.
1. Thanks for reading my blog, and commenting. I know you're busy (I actually read your post about being busy right before you commented on my blog-and I felt bad). But thanks for taking the time.
2. Thanks for the scientific explanation. I will have to look into it :)
3. Thanks for reminding me about life's miracles and for saying what I needed to hear. I don't know how you knew, but thanks. Your comment pretty much provided me with a chance to observe whether or not I have an occluded nasolacrimal duct.
You're great! Thanks!
