A short, random list of obscure things I like.

These are recent discoveries (well, actually, Styx isn't really new).

Black Pilot G2 pens.

Styx. I'm definitely on a Styx kick right now.

Romanian dancing.

A short, sequential list of questions about the short, random list of obscure things you like:

Which black Pilot G2? The 0.5 mm or the 0.7 mm?

What's your current favorite Styx song?

1. 0.5 mm. Are you a fan?

2. Yikes...currently "Show Me the Way" or "Grand Illusion". But it varies depending on my mood :)

It's great to hear from you again!

1. I am a fan. I prefer the 0.5 mm, too, mainly because I'm left-handed, so my hand tends to drag through the ink. The thinner the line, the faster it dries.

In fact, I even went so far as to order some of the 0.38 mm refills that are normally only available in Japan.

2. There was a time in Jr. High when I listened to nothing but Styx and Kansas albums for six months straight. I think I drove my older brother insane.

3. I'd write more often, but I rarely have anything worthwhile to say. Besides, whenever I leave a comment I tend to sound a blithering idiot. I go back and read it later and it's like, "I LIKES G-2 PENS! THEY'S GREAT!" I gain about 40 IQ points just by shutting up.

But I do need to go back and argue in favor of that one scene in "It's a Wonderful Life" where, as you so aptly described, "they're on the phone with Sam and George grabs Mary and is kinda freaking out, yelling at her and shaking her, and she's crying." That is one of the most beautiful, most authentic, and most romantic scenes in American film history.

4. I miss seeing you at the HFAC. It was always the highlight of my day.

1. I'm glad you enjoy the G2s as well. A good pen makes all the difference, really. And I had no idea you were left handed.

2. Styx and Kansas. A great combination. What are your favorite songs?

3. You never sound like an idiot (sidenote: I just typed sounds instead of sound. I'm intelligent like that). At least you always sound coherent-something I struggle with. Example: my description of the George Bailey scene. I mean, how random. Yikes. I type how I think. And that's scary sometimes.

4. I miss seeing you too! Since we never run into each other anymore (are you ever on campus?) your comments are now the highlights of my days. So that's why you should keep commenting :)...I'll try and post something interesting...or perhaps controversial...for you to comment about. Deal?

> What are your favorite songs?

I refuse to say, because confessing your favorite songs from Jr. High School is something that invariably leads to public humiliation. (Come to think of it, that pretty much describes Jr. High School as a whole...)

> Since we never run into each other
> anymore (are you ever on campus?)

We never run into each other because I'm only taking one night class, Wednesdays, 5pm-10pm, and surely you have better things to be doing with your nights than hanging out in the HFAC.

It's a film genres class that's studying horror films this semester. So, if you see me after class, late at night, and come up behind me and say "Hi," don't be surprised if I scream like a girl. We're watching some very disturbing stuff...

All right, you may keep your adolescent song choices to yourself, although you needn't worry about people making fun of you-I would never make fun, and more than likely, the one other person who reads my blog wouldn't even care :)

Unfortunately, I am not on campus Wednesdays from 5-10. I work until about 6:30 and then head home...although hearing you scream like a girl sounds very tempting. Maybe I'll be seeing you around *evil laughter*

Okay, not really. I'm too chicken to walk around campus by myself at 10 o'clock at night. Your class sounds very...interesting. I hope you're having fun.

By the way, how do you feel about the group Foreigner?

Anonymous said...

Foreigner is inoffensive enough, but I never could muster a lot of enthusiasm for them.

All this talk of Jr. High School musical tastes has made me keenly aware of what awful taste in music I had back then. (Styx excepted, of course.) I spent the majority of my time listening to absolute crap and completely missed out on artists who are now some of my favorites.

For instance, Elvis Costello was just hitting his stride when I was in Jr. High and High School, yet I didn't discover him until almost a decade later. That's a travesty.

Granted, everyone's musical taste matures with age, but when it comes right down to it there's really no excuse for buying the single of "Boogie Oogie Oogie."
